Saturday was an incredibly beautiful day. Despite the storm warnings in the past few days, Mr. Sun has decided to give Auckland a taste of the real New Zealand summer; just in time for the food festival held at Federal Street in the central business district.
Being ecstatic about food, we decided to include it in the day’s itinerary. Apart from the long queues, the packed venue, and the fact that we just had some generous servings of gelato from Giapo, the food didn’t disappoint.
Here are some of the flavors of the Federal St. Summer Fest:
Andy’s Chargrilled Cheeseburger, bacon mayo, cheddar, house ketchup, and pickles.
Jade Dragon’s Steamed Prawn and Pork Siu Mei.
The Grill by Sean Connolly’s Lamb Cutlets with chipotle mayo.
Federal Delicatessen’s NY Cheesecake – Baked Cheesecake with strawberries.
And here’s a peek of what Giapo has in store for everyone:
If you’re visiting New Zealand next summer, don’t forget to include the food festivals or even the usual market days during the weekends, in your itinerary.
New Zealand is a beautiful country. Because of its geographical features, you get to explore the sea and the mountains almost everywhere you go. Your eyes get to feast on blues and greens throughout the duration of your visit.
Last October, with family members visiting from different parts of the globe, we were given the chance to show them a portion of New Zealand’s hidden gems by going on a 6-day tour around the North Island. Our itinerary was simple. We wanted them to experience and appreciate what New Zealand has to offer even just within a short span of time. Furthermore, it was designed to ensure that the drivers (especially those from overseas) didn’t get exhausted. Thus, there was a maximum travel time of approximately 2.5 hours per destination.

Wedding preparations are incredibly time-consuming and stressful, mainly because you want everything to be perfect. Being away from home (the Philippines) made it much more challenging because of the limited resources; thus, forcing us to think of a unique and creative option for one of the most important element of the wedding, the THANK YOU GIFTS.
Our guest list comprised roughly of 40 guests (mostly family and friends) so I decided that it was more fitting to give them a very personal gift. An idea sprung to my mind when I remembered Gelo’s love for art. I ended up asking him to paint.
Here are some of the paintings that he worked on for five or so months. No two paintings are alike. And to make it more personalized, Gelo and I wrote thank you notes at the back of the canvas.
Presenting, Gelo’s works of art (THANK YOU BABE!):
